Tali Mayer is a photographer and journalist born in Israel in 1989. Mayer is most known for her project Bullet 4557, which documents people who were shot in the face by sponge-tipped bullets. She began the project after being shot with the same weapon while on assignment in East Jerusalem. Mayer has published photos in the Israeli daily newspaper Haaretz, the Washington Post, Foreign Affairs, the Times, and Al Jazeera, among others. She believes in responsible storytelling which is based on local knowledge and awareness. She is currently focusing on cultural and social processes in Israeli society.
