Born in France, Ludovic Carème is a photographer currently living between São Paulo and Paris. In São Paulo, his portrait work focuses on women and men living in the Água Branca favela. The housing will be razed and the people displaced by the current city policy to replace Água Branca with a new road junction. In this threatened area, Carème’s photographic work is relentless. Day-by-day and house-by-house, he documents Água Branca before the troubled waters close up on it. His portraiture has been published in Libération, Le Monde, Elle, Vogue, The New York Times, The Guardian, and Republica delle donne among others. He is represented by Modds. (Photo shot in Mostar, Bosnia, 1993.)
