Eyes on Main Street Inc

Kasia Strek is a Polish photojournalist based in Paris and Warsaw. She studied French and literature before discovering photography during her master's degree studies in visual arts. She then studied documentary photography in Poland, France, and Australia. For her, photography is the way of taking action, of engaging in society, and of directing attention to the issues that she finds under-represented. Her practice focuses on subjects related to social inequalities, environmental issues, and women's rights. In 2017, she became a member of the French collective ITEM. In 2018, she received the Camille Lepage “On Est Ensemble” prize at Visa pour l'Image for her work on access to abortion in countries where it is illegal. In 2018, she was a laureate of the Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation grant and winner in multimedia category of Polish-German Tadeusz Mazowiecki Journalism Prize for her report on the mining industry in Poland. Her work was exhibited at the 31st Visa pour l'Image Festival in Perpignan and several other exhibitions in France, Poland, and Australia. (Photo shot in Manila, Philippines, 2017.
