Jeremy Dennis (b. 1990) is an artist and photographer from the Shinnecock Indian Reservation in Southampton, NY. Dennis received his BA in Studio Art at Stony Brook University and earned his MFA from Pennsylvania State University. His work is influenced by his identity, issues of assimilation, and the honoring of tradition. Through research and analysis of oral stories and history, Dennis constantly strives toward using photography to fill gaps in cultural and social knowledge. In 2016, Dennis received the Dreamstarter Grant from Running Strong for American Indian Youth to pursue a project titled On This Site, an art and photography focused research project based on sacred, historical, and archaeological sites significant to indigenous people in his region of Long Island, NY. Dennis lives in Southampton, NY and continues to gather research, present his work, and exhibit through the Northeastern United States and beyond. (Photo shot in Southampton, NY, USA, 2018.
