Ebru Ceylan was born in Ankara, Turkey in 1976. In 1992, she began her photography career at AFSAD in Turkey, where she won several awards. After graduating from Marmara University, she pursued a master’s degree in filmmaking at Mimar Sinan University in Istanbul. In 1998, her first short film Kıyıda (On the Edge) was an official selection at the Cannes Film Festival. She was the lead actress in Climates by Nuri Bilge Ceylan and the art director, storywriter, and co-scriptwriter of Three Monkeys, as well as co-scriptwriter of Once Upon a Time in Anatolia. She was the co-scriptwriter of the 2014 Cannes Film Festival Palme D’Or winner Winter Sleep. She continues to make films and photographs. (Photo shot in Anatolia, Turkey, 2009.)
