A week after graduating from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri in 1975, Carrie Boretz began her life as a photographer after landing an internship at the Village Voice in New York City. Over the next decade, she photographed for major magazines like the New York Times Magazine, New York Magazine, Sports Illustrated, People, Fortune, and Life. By the 1990s, she was photographing daily for the New York Times, but after 25 years of shooting, she traded it in to start life in an actual office and became a photo editor at S.I.’s GOLF from 2003 to 2013. Boretz’s first book of photographs, STREET, NYC, 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s, was published by powerHouse Books in the Fall of 2017. (Photo shot in New York, NY, USA, 1994.
