Bob Bartosz has been a professional fire photographer for 60 years. He took his first fire photo in 1947 at the age of 10 and published his first photo at 12. Born and raised in Camden, New Jersey, he was appointed as the official photographer for Camden County, New Jersey in 1954 at age 17. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, Bartosz’s photos appeared in the fire publications, Fire Engineering and the NFPA. By 1960, he was appointed as the official photographer for the Camden City Fire Department and became a county police officer doing ID crime photography. He has won over 128 international and state photography awards and is the author of Black and White and Red All Over, published in 1971, and Tin Helmets, Iron Men, published in 2001.
