Alexandra Boulat (1962 – 2007) was born in Paris, France. In 1989, she followed in her father’s (photographer Pierre Boulat) footsteps and became a photojournalist. Sipa Press represented her from 1989-2000. In 2001, she co-founded VII photo agency. Her feature stories were published in many international magazines like National Geographic, Time, and Paris-Match, and she received many prestigious international awards for her work. Boulat reported on the wars in former Yugoslavia, the Palestinian and Israeli conflict, Afghanistan, and Iraq. Her last important work focused on Muslim women in the Middle East and Gaza. Her photographs have been bought by various museums including La Maison Européenne de la Photographie and the Fond National d’Art Contemporain. She was nominated for the Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters in 2007. (Photo shot in Anefgou, Morocco, 2004.)
