Donna DeCesare is an author, educator, documentary photographer, and the recipient of numerous photography awards and grants. Her book Unsettled Desasosiego: Children in a World of Gangs was published in 2013, and later that year she received the Maria Moors Cabot Award for Journalism. In 2016, she was named among Time magazine’s women trailblazers in photography of the past century. Her work is currently on exhibition as part of the Gang City project at the Venice biennale. Ms. DeCesare teaches photography in underserved communities, at the Garcia Marquez New Journalism Project in Cartagena de las Indias Colombia, and is a tenured professor at the School of Journalism at the University of Texas, Austin.
